Vena Cava Histology

The vena cava is an intersting comparison to the aorta slide. In it, we can observe a thin tunica media compared to the aorta. The elastic tissue is also bunched up between the tunica intima and media. The vena cava also has a really thick tunica externa compared to the aorta. However, similar to the aorta, you can observe vasa vasorium in the tunica externa.

Scroll through the unlabeled slides using the yellow arrows. Compare the unlabeled photos to the labeled low power photo. Then select one of the pictures and draw it. All the photos were taken by me in the spring of 2021.
