Skeletal Muscle - longitudinal Section

Skeletal muscle tend to have long fibrous cells with multiple nuclei. Skeletal muscle cells are long and parallel while cardiac muscle cells tend to branch. If viewed with a high enough power you will see striations which are due to the contractile elements of the tissue. The darker bands are the thick myosin fillaments and the lighter bands are the thinner actin fillaments.
