This model shows the major arteries and veins of the thoracic and abdominal cavity Try to identify the arteries. I like this because it has a close up of the vessels right off of the heart. When done be sure to see the head model and the torso model to see where these go. Also see the thoracic cavity for a close up picture of them as well as heart structures.   • It is jugular vein and carotid artery!
  • There is only 1 brachiocephalic artery but 2 brachiocephalic veins.
  • Pulmonary arteries are blue on the model because they have oxygen poor blood similar to veins.
  • Pulmonary veins are red on the model because they have oxygen rich blood similar to arteries
  • 2 branches of the Celiac Trunk are the hepatic artery and the splenic artery.
  • The hepatic vein leaves the liver and goes to the vena cava.
  • The hepatic portal vein goes from the intestines to the liver. It is joined by the spleic vein
